We’ll also discover why many people are now going for the lab-grown diamond jewelry.
Now, let’s explore the captivating world of heart-shaped diamonds together.
What’s Unique About Lab-grown Heart-Shaped Diamond?
Today, a lab-grown heart shaped diamond with its exquisite design is the ultimate go-to ring for the perfect romantic expression. Like all diamonds, they are typically made of pure carbon and are renowned for their brilliance, durability, and rarity.
They can be found in a variety of settings, including engagement rings, pendants, and earrings, and are often associated with love, romance, and commitment.
Traditionally, diamonds were formed deep within the earth’s mantle over billions of years, and were mined from kimberlite pipes and alluvial deposits.
However, in recent years, lab-grown diamonds have also become a popular choice for engagement rings and other jewelry.
These diamonds are created in a laboratory using advanced technological processes that replicate the conditions under which natural diamonds are formed.
Lab-grown diamonds are identical to natural diamonds in their physical and chemical properties and are generally more affordable than their mined counterparts.
They are a unique and distinctive choice that can make a striking statement, particularly when paired with other diamonds or gemstones in a halo setting.
But, whether natural or lab-grown, heart-shaped diamonds are a beautiful way to celebrate an engagement, anniversary, or another special occasion.
History of Heart-Shaped Diamonds: From Ancient Times to The Present
The history of heart-shaped diamonds is extensive and interesting, dating back many centuries ago. Throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, notably among the European nobility, heart-shaped diamonds gained increased recognition and popularity. They were frequently used in jewelry as a gift or as a representation of devotion and affection.
Around this time, the renowned jeweler Louis Cartier produced a variety of gorgeous heart-shaped diamond jewelry, including a dazzling diamond necklace that was given to Queen Marie of Romania.
The popularity of heart-shaped diamonds increased during the 20th century, especially as stones for engagement rings.
Elizabeth Taylor received a diamond ring in the form of a heart from actor Richard Burton in 1953. This band is now commonly known as the “Taylor-Burton Diamond.” Afterward, the ring brought a record-breaking $1.1 million at auction.
Today, heart-shaped diamonds are still a popular option for engagement rings and other pieces of jewelry.
They may be available in various settings and styles and are frequently worn in conjunction with other diamonds or gemstones.
These diamonds are becoming more popular with diamond fans and jewelry lovers alike. The popularity is mainly because of developments in diamond-cutting technologies that allow for optimum brightness and fire.
Characteristics Of Heart Shaped Diamonds
Heart-shaped diamonds are unique among diamond shapes and have specific characteristics that make them stand out. The following are some of the key features of heart-shaped diamonds:
- Cut: A diamond’s overall look is greatly influenced by the way the stone is cut. The top and bottom of the diamond should have clearly defined clefts, and they should be symmetrical. A heart-shaped diamond has a length-to-width ratio of between 0.90 and 1.10.
- Clarity: Like other diamonds, the heart-shaped stone’s clarity is determined by the quantity and size of inclusions, or intrinsic defects. A diamond with a better clarity grade will be more expensive and have fewer inclusions.
- Carat weight: A heart shaped diamond’s carat weight describes its size, with one carat equaling 0.2 grams. Depending on the piece’s setting and overall style of the jewelry, heart-shaped diamonds can range in size from tiny accent stones to enormous center stones.
- Hue: A diamond’s hue may also affect its worth; colorless or almost colorless diamonds are the most expensive. Other people, however, might prefer a diamond with a bit of yellow or brown tinge since it can give the stone a distinctive and cozy warmth.
- Symmetry: A heart-shaped diamond’s symmetry is essential to its overall attractiveness. The top and bottom of the heart should have distinct clefts, and the two parts should be exactly symmetrical.

Natural vs. Lab-Grown Heart-Shaped Diamonds: Factors to Consider When Choosing
When it comes to heart-shaped diamonds, buyers have the option of choosing between natural and lab-grown diamonds.
Here are some factors to consider when deciding between natural and lab-grown heart-shaped diamonds:
- Cost: Lab grown diamonds are often less expensive than natural diamonds, and this is also true for heart-shaped diamonds. Since lab grown diamonds are created in a controlled environment, their supply is more consistent, and they are often more affordable.
- Ethics: Natural diamonds are often associated with unethical practices such as human rights violations and environmental damage. On the other hand, lab-grown diamonds are an ethical alternative as they are created in a controlled environment without any human rights violations or environmental damage.
- Rarity: Natural diamonds are rare and unique, and this is reflected in their price. However, lab grown diamonds are created in a controlled environment, and this means that they are less rare and easily available than natural diamonds.
- Quality: The quality of a diamond is determined by the 4Cs – cut, color, clarity, and carat weight. Both natural and lab-grown diamonds can vary in quality, and it is important to choose a heart-shaped diamond that meets your quality standards.
Tips on Maintaining Your Heart-Shaped Diamond Jewel
Maintaining a heart-shaped diamond is essential to keep it looking its best for years to come. Here are some tips on how to properly maintain and care for your heart-shaped diamond:
- Cleaning: Regular cleaning is necessary to keep your diamond looking its best. Use warm water, a soft-bristled toothbrush, and a light detergent to clean your diamond. Brush the diamond and the setting gently, then fully clean the jewels before drying them with a delicate towel.
- Storage: To avoid dents and scratches, store your diamond away from other jewelry. Preferably, keep it in a bag or jewelry box with a soft fabric interior.
- Prevent Chemicals: Keep your diamond away from chemicals like perfume, hairspray, and household cleaners. Over time, these pollutants may harm the diamond and its setting.
- Frequent Inspections: Have a qualified jeweler check your diamond at least once a year. They might look for cracks in the diamond or setting, loose prongs, or other damage.
- Professional Cleaning: To keep your diamond in top shape, think about having it professionally cleaned and examined every few years. With the professional cleaning, you can get rid of any filth or grime accumulation that routine cleaning might not be able to eliminate.

Exploring the Best Mechanical Watches in Today’s Market

Curiously enough, despite the arrival of the smart watch with all its multitasking allure and its flashy functionality, mechanical watches have grown a lot in popularity over the past few years.
And though the Quartz revolution has made watches so much more affordable and accessible to everybody, the advance in manufacturing technology has brought to us in recent decades some outstanding mechanical timepieces that rival the affordability of higher-end Quartz ones.
If you’re looking for a mechanical watch that is worth it and is also affordable, you’ve come to the right place because today, we’re going to be listing the best mechanical watches in 2024.
Best Mechanical Watches
Seiko Recraft
The Seiko Recraft is a wacky collection, out of which we prefer the SMK P27 with its lovely green dial and the rectangular case shape with slightly curved edges. It’s a rarity in the watch world, a vintage-inspired timepiece, reminiscent of the 1970s. The watch comes with only 50 meters of water resistance, an automatic movement without hacking function and without hand winding, and just a mineral crystal hard lex protecting the dial, but it’s an impressive timepiece nonetheless, and it costs a humble $275.
Tissot Everytime Swissmatic
An elegant and affordable piece that costs around $400. It’s one of the best mechanical timepieces you can get for the money. The simplicity of its dial, the clean and minimalistic esthetic with that lovely contrast between the stark the dial and the silver hue of the case, hands and indices, really make for a stunning watch. And inside, there’s a reliable Swiss automatic movement with a hearty power reserve of 70 hours with an accuracy of plus or minus 10 seconds a day, proving to be quite a capable mechanical caliber, especially for that price.
Citizen NJ0100 Automatic
One of the big Japanese names in affordable watches is Citizen and their NJ0100 Automatic proves to be quite a sight, powered by a Myota 8210 automatic movement with a water resistance of 50 meters. The price doesn’t exceed $150, so it’s perfect, but the fact that it’s an older model and not in production anymore makes it a little harder to find. But if you look around the internet, you should find plenty.
Seiko Presage Cocktail Time Blue Moon
The Seiko Presage Cocktail Time Blue Moon is a real stunner. It may be a little more expensive at $440, but still on the affordable side, and it’s worth all those bucks. It comes in a 40.5 millimeter stainless steel case with an automatic four R-3-5 movement as it’s ticking hot, reliable, and with a 41-hour power reserve. But the most captivating part of this timepiece is that dark blue sunburst style, giving the watch an artistic and captivating look.
Tufina Sahara Mechanical
The Tufina Sahara is among the most popular mechanical watches out there, one with a dressy look and plenty of variants to choose from. Our favorite is the rose gold one, which boasts a remarkable silver dial with an intricate skeleton composition, playing with light in such a way that it creates a mesmerizing show. On the technical side, it comes powered by a mechanical movement with 17 rubies, a 3 ATM water resistance, rhodium plated case, Alpha photoluminescent hands and a superb sapphire coated lens protecting the dial. The thin bezel and classic guarded crown gives this watch a very elegant look, and the fact that you can find it for about $990 makes it that much more appealing.
Orient Kamaso
The Orient Kamaso is a worthy divers watch, bringing some impressive features for less than $300. The sapphire crystal glass, for example, is a rare feature on affordable watches. Then there’s the rugged stainless steel case that is depth rated for 200 meters, another feature that usually comes with higher price tags. When it comes to appearance, the Kamaso has a stunning black, blue, red, or green sunburst dial, complemented by the rotating vessel, finished in the same color. Under the dial, there’s an automatic Orient Calibur F692, a movement that’s said to be reliable and accurate.
Dan Henry 1970 Automatic Diver
Remaining in the diving watch world, the Dan Henry 1970 Automatic Diver, a tribute to the Compressor case dive watchers that were the thing back in the late 1960s and early 1970s. It comes with the Seco NH-3 five automatic movement, water resistance of 200 meters, and in two case sizes, 40 millimeters and 44 millimeters. What we’re most impressed with is the beautiful and refreshing dial. It’s a classic, but it’s also one that departs from the similar designs that most divers have.
