BANGKOK – Almost nine years after waving goodbye to their legions of Thai fans, the best-selling Backstreet Boys were back in town this week and after a few minutes, it really didn’t feel as though they’d been away.

Impact Arena Muang Thong Thani was packed on Wednesday night with music fans wanting to revisit the glory days of the 1990s with Backstreet Boys’ array of pop and R&B hits.

At 8.30pm, AJ McLean, Kevin Richardson, Brian Littrell, Nick Carter and Howie Dorough in cobalt blue suits kicked off the show with upbeat pop number “The Call” to deafening cheers. Like the old friends they are, the boys did not waste time on hellos but instead kept the show rolling with mellower tunes from the past like “Don’t Want You Back”, “Incomplete”, “Permanent Stain” from their recent CD “In a World Like This” before reverting to 1997 with “All I Have to Give” from “Backstreet’s Back” album.

The boys briefly left the stage, leaving interview excerpts showing on the big screen, but were back in minutes, this time dressed in T-shirts, jeans and sneakers that evoked their “campus tours in gymnasium” vibe at the beginning the of their career 22 years ago.

“We know Bangkok knows how to party. We’ve seen you party before,” Brian Littrell told the crowd.

“This time we have rules, and if you want music from the Backstreet Boys, you have to follow these rules. First, you have to party like crazy, and second, which is very important, you have to party like it’s 1995 all over again. Can you do that?”

A loud cheer erupted in confirmation, and the Backstreet Boys revived the ’90s with “As Long As You Love Me”, “Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely”, “Incomplete” and “I’ll Never Break Your Heart”.

The members did a great job at evoking that specific period, not only through their teen pop and soulful R&B sounds but also through their playfulness, approachable boy band charisma, and most importantly, the genuine chemistry between them. Without a doubt, the Backstreet Boys still very much enjoy each other’s company.

They were happy to be on stage and the songs were delivered with passion and conviction. Fans were blown away and screamed like teenagers, forgetting that the entire show was being put together by just the five singers. The production somehow seemed so much bigger.

Next up was “We’ve Got It Goin’ On”, their Europop breakthrough hit from their 1995 self-titled debut. Now well into their late 30’s and early 40’s, not only do they still sing reasonably well, but they can also move in perfect sync and with dynamic vigour.

The boys cooled things down a bit with “Madeline” from the new album and “Quit Playing Games with My Heart” in an acoustic session that saw Carter and Littrell on guitar, Dorough on bass, Richardson on keyboard and McLean on cajon and percussion and reminded fans that these lads can do far more than just sing and dance.

The booming backing track returned with “The One” from 1999 album “Millennium” that |later became one of the best-selling albums of all time. That was quickly followed by a set that included “Love Somebody”, “Shape of My Heart”, “In a World Like This”, which Richardson and McLean co-wrote for their children, and “I Want It That Way”, which had everyone up and dancing.

The lights went out, and the song that the fans had been waiting for, “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” came on for the encore followed by “Larger Than Live” that concluded to the show.

Unlike many other band reunions where the members stick to past successes and familiar hits, the Backstreet Boys proved that an old band can stay impressively current and true to themselves with newer songs while still sounding very much as they did 20 years back.

Win Butler Has Been Accused Of Sexual Misconduct By Arcade Fire

CTN NEWS –  Win Butler, the frontman for Grammy-winning rock band Arcade Fire, has been accused of sexual misconduct by four people. According to the accusers, the misconduct occurred between 2016 and 2020, when they were ages 18 to 23 and Butler was between 36 and 39.

According to a report in Pitchfork, a fourth accuser, who identifies as “gender-fluid,” claims Butler sexually assaulted them twice in 2015 when they were 21 and he was 34.

Win Butler has been married to fellow Arcade Fire

Butler has been married to fellow Arcade Fire member Régine Chassagne since 2003. Butler denied the sexual misconduct allegations, saying that he had had “consensual relationships outside of my marriage,” Pitchfork.

The accusers, who were identified by pseudonyms in the article, said that Butler initially contacted them through social media before meeting them in person, and later made demands for nude photos and sex.

One of the women told Pitchfork

One of the women told Pitchfork that “Butler sent her photos of his genitals against her wishes.”Another woman described that after first connecting with Butler on Instagram after an Arcade Fire concert in Montreal, the two engaged in “sexts and video calls” before having sex.

However, following a sexual encounter in her Vancouver bedroom before a concert in October 2017, this person told Pitchfork that she attempted suicide.

“I felt incredibly low,” she said. “The toll of having to keep everything secret, constantly pushing my needs aside in order to appease him, lack of boundaries, and the guilt of being the other woman was getting too hard to ignore.”

Win Butler

Butler, she said in a statement to Pitchfork, is “my soulmate, my songwriting partner, my husband, the father of my beautiful boy. He has been my partner in life and in music for 20 years.”

She went on to say that “I know what is in his heart, and I know he has never, and would never, touch a woman without her consent and I am certain he never did. He has lost his way and he has found his way back. I love him and love the life we have created together.”

Laura Eldeiry, Win Butler publicist, declined to comment

Laura Eldeiry, Butler’s publicist, declined to comment beyond the statements Butler and Chassagne gave to Pitchfork. Arcade Fire, now a five-piece band fronted by the husband-and-wife duo, earned early acclaim for its earnest and anthemic rock.

After vaulting from the bustling Montreal indie scene in the mid-2000s, the band became a critical favorite and one of the biggest rock acts of the last two decades.

They won the Grammy for album of the year in 2011 for their third album, “The Suburbs,” and headlined the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in 2014. The group returned to Coachella this year with a surprise early-day set promoting its latest album, “We.”

As of Saturday, the band is still scheduled to begin a European arena tour on Tuesday, with two nights at the Kia Forum in Inglewood in November. Staff writer August Brown contributed to this report:

Music Festivals

Concerts and Music Festivals are both back with a bang, and now is the time to book your tickets because, in the coming months, a diverse range of musicians will be touring the country, showcasing the most famous musicians in the world.

The pandemic changed the world in ways we would never have imagined. It stopped our plans dead in their tracks, and life just hasn’t been the same ever since. However, as things return to normal and restrictions are lifted, it’s your chance to make up for a lost time!

With millions of people dying to see their favourite artists again, it’s time to get your hands on tickets before they’re all sold out.

Since it’s time to celebrate like there’s no tomorrow, this article will serve as an update to some of the best concerts and festivals in the coming few months. Mark your calendars because the year is ending, and 2022 will be everything we hoped for and more!

Here are six fantastic Music Festivals you can’t miss in the coming year.

The Weeknd

One of the most famous artists of this generation is back with a bang and ready to rock arenas around North America.

From 2020 onwards, Blinding Lights has been one of the most played songs in the world for months. But, now you can catch The Weeknd live in concert in 2022. Not only is he a fantastic performer, but many people say he’s just as good live as he is in the studio.

Make sure you mark your calendars and free up your schedules in the next few months. The best part? You don’t have to worry about the dreaded summer heat this time, with winters bearing down on us—the general charm of outdoor concerts returns.

The Foo Fighters

Yes, one of our time’s greatest alternative rock bands is touring in 2022, but only just about. Their tour has already started and will spill over into a few months of the following year. So if you’re lucky, you can catch a glimpse of the former Nirvana drummer and the gang.

Dave Grohl is one of Hollywood’s most incredible and fun guys and radiates positive energy throughout his shows, so try and grab some tickets before they sell out.

They are most certainly going to sell out fast because DG has become somewhat of a household name, and everyone wants to catch a glimpse of this fun frontman.

Red Hot Chili Peppers

Again one of the loudest and most prominent names from the ’90s, RHCP made its place in history as one of the most famous rock bands of all time.

They are back again in 2022, touring the US. However, don’t expect to see them any time soon; keep July in mind because that’s when they will touch down in the States. They will start their tour in Colorado and work their way around the country after that.

Oh, and the best part of them touring again? John Frusciante is back and ready to lay down some of the classic riffs that made the band famous all those years again.

That’s enough for individual bands; let’s talk about the much-awaited festivals that are on their way in 2022. The biggest parties in the US are back, so book your tickets for these festivals.

Lollapalooza

This is one of the oldest and most sought-after festivals in all of music. Some of the greatest artists of the past few decades tore up the stage countless times and left a mark in history. Hence, Lollapalooza has such a name and remains one of the biggest music festivals in the world.

You can see some of your favourite artists next year once you book your tickets. However, the dates haven’t been announced yet, so keep your eyes peeled for that.

With the pandemic still looming, things seem a bit sketchy. However, we can only hope for the best and pray that it does take place. The official word, for now, is that it will happen.

Stagecoach

If you are a fan of country music, consider buying tickets for Stagecoach in 2022. They have some of the biggest country acts lined up and ready to perform for fans around the country.

Country music isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but those who enjoy it, have a special attachment to it. You can expect Stagecoach to start somewhere around the end of April and last a few days into May. \

It’s going to be in California as always, so make sure you book your air tickets and get your hands on festival tickets as well. Check the lineup to see if your favourite acts will be performing.

Then again, maybe this is your queue to give new talent a chance. It would be a pity to only go back after two years to find a lineup that you don’t care for.

Coachella

One of the most significant music events globally is returning in 2022 for fans around the world. Yes, that’s right, people from around the world come to the US for Coachella. You can imagine the hype around the event judging by how popular Coachella has become around the world.

More than a music festival, Coachella has become somewhat of a cultural event every year. There is so much happening at this event that it’s hard to keep track.

If you are one of the millions of people eagerly awaiting Coachella’s return, keep mid-April in mind. The tickets should already be on sale or will be soon, so you may want to start saving up and plan your trip accordingly.

Airfare around that time is also likely to go up, so ensure that you have enough money and don’t fall short of your budget.

Conclusion

There we have it, some of the most significant Music Festivals of the following year. We started by talking about single bands set to perform in concerts and ended with music festivals that you can visit.

Make sure you catch some of these fantastic artists live in concert whenever you get the chance. It’s a privilege to see some of the greatest superstars of all time live and in person. The thrill of being there in person is otherworldly.

We hope that this article has been helpful to you and that you visited at least one of the concerts and festivals that we listed in this article. Just make sure to take preventive COVID-19 measures when you’re out and about and get vaccinated before you go. Other than that, good luck and have fun.
